Artist Rupert Jacinto recently held a one-night back-to-back mixed media exhibit dubbed “Images: Tokyo” and “Nieuw Art” featuring a combination of photography, computer graphics and painting
   Jacinto’s show, held at the St. Francis, Shangri-La Place, displayed framed digital

 

photos on canvas, photographs of Tokyo images, and 11 mixed media murals in varying sizes. The metal rigging installations were designed by Jaime Ponce de Leon. One artwork was auctioned off for the benefit of the Harvest Aid Organization Foundation.


ASEAN Ladies Foundation Holds Program

The Association of Southeast Asian Ladies Foundation (ALF), Inc. recently organized a fund-raising event dubbed “An Afternoon of ASEAN Elegance.” The affair, held at the Manila Polo Club, featured a fashion show of national costumes and a cultural presentation of regional folk dances.

who is the Indonesian ambassador’s lady, delivered the opening remarks, expressing appreciation to the guests and participants. The Malaysian and Indonesian dancers, in dazzling costumes, performed their countries’ favorite folk dances.. During the fashion show, the ALF ladies themselves, as well as their daughters and friends, modeled the elegant regional costumes.

   Richelle Vibal mounts her fundraising exhibit for VSO Bahaginan, a global volunteer organization helping the economically deprived in the world’s poor countries. The photo exhibit documents the activities of the Philippine youth volunteer program of VSO Bahaginan. The artist took snapshots with toy cameras and utilized various film developing processes.

   Julio Jose ustri, popularly known as Jojo Austria, mounts his fourth one-man exhibit of paintings that focus on Time as an irreparable illusionist. The sights and sounds of the streets in Metro Manila coil around in his mind and grow as a hub of all his melancholic dirges for the mangled view of modern urban living.

 

 

Surfing Extravaganza at La Union

Urbiztondo Beach in San Juan, La Union is once again the venue of a surfing extravaganza on November 2-4, highlighted by a competition of the best local surfing talents in that province.
   Last year’s successful event has galvanized the provincial government of La Union, the municipality of San Juan, the Department of Tourism (DOT) and other agencies to give their support once again.
    Each registered participant will be entitled to one surf lesson lasting for 30 minutes. Participants are encouraged to progress in their learning of surfing as well as to participate in side events while waiting for their turn to surf. Beach volleyball games will be held round the clock, free for anyone who wants to play. Frisbee and climbing clinics will be on a continuous run.
    The grand Beach Break Party takes place on November 3 with different bands presenting concerts one after another. Students from different universities throughout the Philippines are expected to join in the fun .

ASEAN Tourism
Exhibition in Thailand

Interested travel agencies and other associations have until October 31 this year to register for the ASEAN Tourism Exhibition to be held in Bangkok, Thailand on January 21-26, 2008.
    The exhibition is made to coincide with the ASEAN Tourism Forum which begins in the Thai capital on January 18 and ends on the 26. Each of the ASEAN member countries is experiencing continuous improvement in its tourism products such as new travel destinations and facilities. The purpose of he exhibition is to introduce travelers to these exciting developments.

inson were fresh off the plane from Cebu where they attended the Philippine Travel Exchange. Mr Hutchinson reported strong interest from Asian tour operators for Boracay, while European and American agents were looking beyond beach holidays to the award-winning tour programs of Tribal Adventures.
