  Viva Mexico!

Last September 17, the Embassy of Mexico commemorated the 197th year of its country’s independence. In a grand party held at the Hyatt Hotel and Casino in Manila, Ambassador Erendira Araceli Paz Campos greeted guests from the diplomatic corps, business and social circles. After winning independence in 1810, Mexicans decided that the country was to be named after its capital, Mexico City. The city initially named Mexico-Tenochtitlan, was in reference to the Nahua Aztec tribe, the Mexica. At present, Mexico continues to make significant strides in economic and social development under the government of President Felipe Calderon
