A
coffee-table book entitled
“Nostalgia” featuring the works of
painter Roland Santos is off the
press. Released by publisher Marlene
Aguilar, the opus features Santos’
beautiful watercolor creations that
include old houses, flowers,
landscape, horses, still life and
the abstract.
“I believe I am an old soul, “Santos said. “ I like
things that remind me of the past –
antiques, ancestral
houses, vintage cars and
old movies. There is something
romantic about being transported to
a time that we can only recreate
through the memories that have been
left behind.” For the
artist, nostalgia is beyond just a
mere longing for the past. |
|
It
is an invitation to contemplate upon
the present using the elements of
each artwork and also, to find
peace.
Copies of “Nostalgia” are now
available in leading bookstores and
art galleries. |

Butterflies and Flowers
By Carmencita H.
Acosta |
|
|
|
When a fluttering creature as a
butterfly meets an irresistible
object as a flower, Nature goes to
work.
And so does painter Antonio Daleon. With brush, oils, and canvas he
captures scenes of multi-colored
butterflies alighting on clusters of
beautiful flowers.
Art is defined as “the imitation of life.” Daleon certainly renders
a faithful translation of reality to
art.
Looking at a Daleon genre painting,
one is justified to exclaim: |
 |
|
“
Are you warm, are you real, dear
but-terflies? Or just a cold but
exquisitely lovely work of art?”
Antonio Daleon’s paintings are
included in a group exhibit ongoing
at ECCA, Chateau Verde Condominium,
Atis St. corner Kaimito St., Valle
Verde 1, Pasig City; tel. 671-2069;
cell. 0917-891-5249.
