Why did you choose to settle in Northern Samar?

By Chris F. Bech

SCOTT & SUZI CONNER

Suzi and I chose to buy a property in Northern Samar because the locals and the expat community are friendly. We were treated like family everywhere we went. When we made the desicion to purchase Chris Bech’s property, he was extremely helpful throughout the process. We have strongly recommended Chris and Theresa to several friends and co-workers. We are now trying to get everything in order to start the construction of our house. The other expats we have met have been great. We have met and spoken with at least a dozen so far and still continue to send and receive emails from Germans, Americans, Australians, Norwegians and Filipinos. We even know our future neighbors. We are excited to be a part of the community. We won’t retire for another eight or nine years at age 55 but plan to get our house built and spend as much time as we can in Northern Samar. There are many islands here to explore plus caves, waterfalls and other natural attractions. We plan to see all of these and the neighboring islands too. Thanks to Chris and Theresa, our retirement dream of owning an affordable home in the tropics became a reality.

After traveling all over  Asia, America and New  Zealand, looking out for  places to semi-retire and  raise our children, we found Northern Samar which is a unique and affordable paradise. The ocean, beaches, tropical environment and people make Northern Samar the most attractive location for those looking for a quiet place to relax and enjoy life. There is not much like Northern. Samar. I suggest everyone to check it out for themselves.

Why Samar? Its  beauty, vast expanse of beautiful islands, it is relatively uncrowded, and equally important is the security of what we call “Paradise Village” which is our little gated community of like-minded folks who have been attracted to Chris and Theresa’s website. When I leave “Paradise Village” for periods of time, I rest with a complete peace of mind, knowing our home and property are in good hands under Chris and Theresa Bech’s supervision, and that, is also one of the best attributes of all.

As a foreigner,  Northern Samar became  an obvious choice with all the features available. Unlike most of the Philippines, Northern Samar gives me security and freedom. Many foreigners now own houses on the estate here in Bobon. We all feel very secure here and form strong bonds of friendships. The other side of the equation is the close proximity of natural features. Islands that match Boracay, reefs that compare with Australia’s Great Barrier Reef. Caves, waterfalls and rivers that provide beauty, adventure and tranquility. We also have many fiestas from April to January, so there are always things to keep you occupied—if that is what you want. But as many would say, it is the people—they are so beautiful, friendly and helpful. I could go on and on about Northern Samar - but to see and feel it is something one has to experience to fully appreciate it.

It is beautiful, tranquil,  cooler and less polluted than  big city living. The ocean is  clean. The local people are  friendly and unassuming. The price is affordable. The location is just convenient enough to satisfy immediate needs and wants. The location appears to be an unlikely landfall for a major typhoon and Chris Bech will be my neighbor.

I chose to retire in Northern Samar because of the beautiful, unspoiled beaches and off shore islands. This is a boater’s paradise. And it is not over run by tourists. Clean air, clear blue ocean and quiet beaches make Northern Samar the place where I want to spend the rest of my life.

LOGAN & NICOLE KOMOROWSKI

We chose Northern Samar as my girlfriend Nicole wanted to learn about her background and culture.

It has given us a chance to live out a dream and own a piece of paradise and to also help out in a team atmosphere where everyone is helping everyone. There is a very warm and friendly feel about Northern Samar that we have not experienced elsewhere and we are glad to be a part of it and I am excited about the future.
